a quick glimpse...

Reid Martin Basso, debut signee of Nashville's indie label Yesterday Records, LLC was a singer, entertainer and promoter in San Jose's notorious '80s and '90s nightclub scene. It was then that he started a theater company, ran a live music PR cooperative, and co-managed/sang for an underground new wave synth band. He acted in films, studied baccalaureate classical composition, and developed his unique written lyrical wordplay early. 

 

In the middle 1990's he honored his WWII grandfather, a Patton tank/artilleryman, by enlisting into the military as well. In his own service from the mid-1990s to 2000, Basso served overseas in the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and in various European locations, conflicts, NATO campaigns, and assignments before returning to America.

 

Basso has since remained highly active in the entertainment industry. Additionally he continues to "give back" through church volunteerism, through civilian military service, and a variety of  community outreach interests. A disabled U.S. military veteran, Basso is now an advocate for causes personal to him: PTSD recovery, mentally ill homeless seniors and youth autism.

As a creative arts developer, Basso advises on emerging audience trends and arts investor relations. In addition to producing and writing, Basso's entertainment business endeavors to date have included documentaries, screenwriting, spokesperson roles, film, radio, and -of course- his first love, music. 

​

On January 30th, 2020 the former new romantic and world traveller, officially returned to music with his first solo release"Someday Mess." The unplugged single is the first track from what is being gradually released of his Alternative-Americana compilation SALT AND LIGHT. "Alternative-Americana," Basso's self proclaimed musical signature, is both a return to his Southern roots as well as a blend of pop, jazz and his own modern rock influences.

 

SALT AND LIGHT will debut as individual single releases first in what UpStaged Music Publishing coins as "reverse album format." In such a layout, Basso's individual 2020 singles are ultimately bound collectively into an album compilation after being each released (along with unheard "bonus tracks.")
